The Latest Advances in Knee Care

The methods for diagnosing and treating knee problems are constantly evolving, and patients at KCI benefit from access to the latest advances in knee care every step of the way.

Diagnosis. To arrive at the most accurate diagnosis, KCI physicians utilize a complete spectrum of state-of-the-art diagnostic tools. These include MRI, computerized tomography (CT scan), arthroscopy, and electrodiagnostics.

Treatment. In addition to such recent nonsurgical treatment advances as viscosupplementation, the physicians at the Knee Care Institute are expert in the use of the latest surgical techniques and technologies. To help ensure successful knee replacement, for example, Dr. Kolisek uses the most advanced materials available, such as titanium, ceramic, and a new plastic joint liner that significantly increases the longevity of a prosthesis.

Likewise, Dr. Farr offers knee restoration patients advanced treatments such as cartilage cell implantation, in which some of the patient’s own knee cartilage can be used to "grow" new cells that are implanted in the knee to repair and new cells that are implanted in the knee to repair and resurface areas of cartilage loss.

KCI physicians are also keeping abreast of current research-most notably biologic tissue engineering. This exciting area of exploration may someday offer a whole new world of treatment innovations from which KCI patients may benefit.

Rehabilitation. Within the Knee Healing and Wholeness Center, KCI offers all the resources needed to enhance your recovery. Psychological well-being—a vital aspect of successful rehabilitation—is incorporated into the recovery process.
